Why Working Out and Eating Right Won’t Always Help You Lose Weight
A lot of women will notice that once they really start to see some results from working out, many times these results stagnate. Initially you are doing really well and the body fat is coming off and the weight is coming down, but then you hit a plateau and everything seems to stop. So let’s look at some reasons why this maybe be happening and what you can do about it.
The first thing to look at is the last time you really changed your gym workouts up. In fact, if you have been weight training for a few months and hit a plateau then it might be a good idea to take a full month off of weight training. That doesn’t mean you won’t be working out, but you should do a circuit workout plan and more interval training. These workouts are considerably shorting but they are very intenese. They will also help to through your body out of sync and help you burn more fat so you can kick that plateau.
Second, you should relook at what you’re eating and for the next couple weeks keep a detailed journal. This is good to do because while you might be eating very healthy now, you can discover that a few cheat snacks are actually adding up to a lot more than you thought.
Third, with your resistance training, you could be adding a lot more lean muscle mass which will keep your weight from going down. As you probably know, lean muscle mass weighs more than body fat so when you put lean muscle on and lose body fat, your weight actually goes up a little. You really should learn to stop looking at the scale anyway and use a body fat scale. There are few numbers that are as exciting to watch go down as your body fat percentage.
If you think this is something more serious then definitely go see a doctor, but most of the time it won’t be. Try some of these suggestions and make sure to really keep things different. Change your exercise routines at least every month and remember to have fun so you don’t get discouraged if things don’t go just how you planned.
